Nex-step was established by a team of globally experienced media and technology professionals, who have spent their careers developing, implementing and marketing technology systems, designed primarily for the media industry.

Damien Thomson (Director)

Damien is an energetic and highly dynamic senior executive, with extensive global experience leading business operations for international technology organisations. He has held regional management positions and been a director of companies working within the broadcast and digital media sectors.

Damien is an accomplished Financial Manager (CPA:ASA), with sound business aptitude and comprehensive understanding of financial planning, modelling, reporting and operations. Damien holds a Bachelor of Business from UTS Sydney.

Kees de Jong (Director)

Kees is a highly experienced business builder, having worked throughout EU and APAC in contemporary technology and service based environments. He is a technology visionary, having most recently established the Xaxis trading desk for GroupM in Australia. Kees is a well travelled and culturally aware individual, who is passionate about digital marketing and media trading. Kees is an active participant in the newly formed Australian Brand Safety Council.

Kees’ primary areas of expertise including business planning, business development and relationship building.

Michael Lane (Director)

Michael’s career spans 20 years and includes several senior management positions working with Australia’s leading Media Agency organisations George Patterson Bates, Optimedia and Universal McCann. Michael was also a founder of highly successful Australian media technology company Facilitate Digital, where he held the role of Chief Product Officer.

As someone who has been immersed in the digital and media marketing arena, Michael brings an in-depth knowledge of business best practices, digital media workflow and emerging digital strategies. Michael has a Bachelor Degree in Marketing from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
